About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Scrub Scout to join a busy operating theatre team within a well established private surgical hospital in Melbourne.
This role is ideal for a theatre nurse with strong perioperative experience who enjoys working in a collaborative surgical environment and delivering safe, high quality patient care.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary operating theatre team, performing Scrub Scout duties across a range of surgical specialties.
This position offers an excellent work life balance with a Monday to Friday roster, limited weekend work and no public holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Ophthalmic Scrub Scout duties within the operating theatre
- Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists and theatre staff to ensure smooth surgical workflow
- Prepare operating theatres, surgical instruments and equipment prior to procedures
- Maintain sterile field and strict infection control standards
- Monitor patients throughout the perioperative journey and escalate concerns where required
- Support safe patient care and positive surgical outcomes
- Provide guidance and support to Enrolled Nurses and junior staff
- Maintain clear communication with the wider operating theatre team

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:

Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse

Demonstrated Scrub Scout experience within an operating theatre

Experience in a perioperative nursing environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Commitment to safe, evidence based patient care
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced theatre environment
- Full working rights in Australia (essential requirement)
